Marbles were better in the slingshot if you couldn't afford ball bearings.
I would cook a marble and then drop it in cold water which would cause it to fracture but stay together. Then when you used it in a slingshot it would shatter when you hit something. 😉

Yup, it was dangerous. I almost put my cousin's eye out, hit him just above the eye.
That put an end to the sling shots.

He was one of the younger kids that shouldn't have been there to begin with.
He remembers it to this very day! No hard feelings about it, we were just young and not so bright.

He had a rifle with a cork stuck in it, attached to the cork was a string. “Let’s give it to her right between the eyes!” he said. Then they let me run home in a terrified state back to my ‘up the hill gang’. I couldn’t speak for a while due to the realisation that you can sometimes get caught 😮
If you use rocks as ammunition it becomes a weapon for sure!
