Something wrong with the Posting here. Anyway,I just had to put my beloved little female tabby to sleep. This is the fourth time I've had to feel this sorrow, and even tho I know I'm doing the right thing by freeing them from pain, you still can't help but ask:"Did I do the right thing?"

you did mate... nothing worse then seeing a beloved animal suffering ... Keep your head up, I'm sure Tabby had a great life with you and you should be proud of that !!

I guess you're right,Pawn, but it never gets any easier. My other cat knows his friend isn't coming home, and wonders why. So I guess I'll have to go to the shelter again and bring home another friend. I urge all my RHP friends to do the same, and adopt a whole lot of unconditional love.

the sorrow you feel now is there only as emphasis of the bond that will always exist between the two of you.
she must have been very happy to have you as her friend.

in friendship,

I've had to put animals down my whole life and it never hurts any less. But at least they're in a better place now.

Did you do the right thing?

Love dictates that whatever you did would have been in the best interests of the cat - so, rest assured, you did the right thing.

You tried your best and you cannot change anything. It does not make sense to torment yourself now. Pain will go with time. Banality, but true.

The family hound dog I grew up with died just weeks after I moved out of the house. It was a relief to me that I was not on hand to personally witness the death, and only found out about it from my parents.

I hear you, it's pretty sad putting your pal down, but I'm getting a new guinea pig tomorrow because my kids miss the one that just died. You just try to do right by them, they die anyways *sigh* I've had to bury many family pets, for myself and others, but I wouldn't change a thing because they were all well loved and had good lives.

You did the right thing, the decent thing too.
