General

In remembrance of Pearl Harbor.

My father was there. USS New Orleans.

"Speaker, and Members of the Senate and House of Representatives: YESTERDAY, December 7, 1941 a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."- FDR

Ah, yes. Latecomers Day, as it's called in Europe.

@Shallow-Blue
Didn't they apologise for being late in the last two world wars by being really punctual next time?

LoL you guys are funny 😄

They may be trying in their own way to teach you something?

It is not called that in any place I know of.

I believe he was just joking around. I know a rare event there. 😉

Not in public... I've definitely heard Englishmen use that term, or something very similar, in a sarky mood.

I'd be more inclined to remember that date, and the war to follow with more reverence, were it not rammed down my throat by my parents. To hear them tell it, they built battleships with one arm and fought the war with the other - and won! 🙄

@Very-Rusty

They were making fun of the USA and Canada waiting until the end of the war to join.

What exactly were they trying to teach me?
Me telling them they were funny is obviously my agreement with them.

So what were they trying to teach me?
