They were making fun of the USA and Canada waiting until the end of the war to join.

What exactly were they trying to teach me?
Me telling them they were funny is obviously my agreement with them.

So what were they trying to teach me?
If it wasn't for Canada and USA, you may be talking German if you aren't already from there. Never mind about them being late, be happy they came and saved your asses. If you were Jewish you'd be dead, FACT! Well you wouldn't be here because you weren't around for the war were you?

Not in public... I've definitely heard Englishmen use that term, or something very similar, in a sarky mood.

It is an open forum so to ever the Americans & Canadians helped during the war.

is anyone making fun of Canada joining late, they didn't like the yanks, the Canadians were Britain by Jan 1940 and deployed in France as part of the BEF disaster
