So the first thing that happens yesterday, a toilet has such a low
flow of water it takes 45 minutes to fill, I think its the little valve
underneath, so off to the hardware store to get a valve, put it
in, which means the whole house has to lose water till I finish that.
Then start it up. Still no water, oops, wasn't the valve. Its that gizmo
inside the bowl that has the float must be gummed up inside.
So back to the hardware store which is only a couple of blocks away
and buy the guts to the toilet. And a nice yucky job it is BTW.
Got that working. Today my wife says, remember that leaky sink
I told you about FOUR MONTHS ago? Well its totaled now.
Leaks like a sieve. I am thinking its a bad seal, take apart all the
chinese puzzle parts that is the drain, the S curved thingy.
Wrong. I had tried tightening all the fittings and such, no luck.
It seems our precious water supply here is a bit acidic and bored
a nice one centimeter hole in the drain pipe.
So back to the hardware store. Buy the supplies.
Get home, put them in. One piece seems to short. Go back to the
hardware store, buy another drainpipe.
Now I realized it was my stupidity, one piece of the puzzle was just
upside down. Put it in right. Now I find the middle connection of the
S piece won't fasten.
Back to the hardware store because I was able to prove it had
been mis-manufactured, subtle problem but it kept me from
putting the two sections together.
Ok now its all set, I thought.
Put it back together and now I find the threads on the OTHER piece
of the new unit was bad.
Back to the hardware store. What are we up to now? Three trips? Four?
Get another new piece to replace the one with the bad threads.
Put it all back together. FINALLY it is watertight.
Jesus H Krist! What a boondogle.
Oh, did I mention, I HATE PLUMBING?

Next time, let someone who knows what he's doing take care of it for you.

BTW, if you think you hate plumbing, try living without it for a while....๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Plumbing isn't so bad. Just take your time and it will work.
I put in a new pump from the well here and it was a snap, no leaks.
I put in a built-in dishwasher, new toilet, new sink, had to solder pipes, never had a leak yet.
I put in all new drains in a friend's house, it wasn't hard, just real unpleasant in the crawl space.
Just take your time and don't panic.
The worst job in the world is unblocking a septic tank.

Yeah, usually but my house is 130 years old and believe me you
can find lots of reasons NOT to do plumbing here!
Like in one corner of our house, there is a bathroom but 100 yrs ago
it was a well. So now its filled in but when you have to work on the
pipes you have to crawl through this very old inner foundation wall
that has a break so you can crawl through, THEN into the old well
where all your pipes are. Spiders, the occasional mouse, all kind
of nasties, broken glass, an archeologist would go nuts.
I dug out a place for one of those above ground pools, actually
a crew did it and we found a burial ground of 19th century broken
dishware. So thats kind of what its like here everywhere.
Stupid stuff like water pipes originally put right up against an outside
wall and DUH, it freezes in the winter, what a shocker, who would have
thought. So when we had some pro's re-do the bathroom we had them
move the pipes inland a few feet and, gotohell, no more freeze.
Too bad they didn't notice that kind of thing 100 years ago when the
house was only like 30 years old then. Oh well, I have to do it anyway
so I just bitch and do it.

My kitchen sink has been leaking for some time. I use ear plugs, seems to fix the problem nicely. ๐Ÿ˜€

and just wait until you attempt to solve your wireless problem, too. Electronics cost more than plumbing supplies.

Like The Plumber, I enjoy what I do and I'm usually good at it.

BTW, just talked to a friend from university. We have come up with a neat little chart for you to look over. Will send it tomorrow. If it doesn't help, I'm tearing up my diploma (which means it will help) ๐Ÿ˜€

Have you ever considered giving up in just about everything? ๐Ÿ˜€
