Is that an SLR? If it is, and you have some lenses for it, you might be able to use them for a digital SLR of the same brand (you should check that, though), which would make a digital SLR more affordable.
Probably this zoom lens is the most expensive thing I ever owned!
Fits perfectly, of course have to go all manual. So if I do get a digital Nikon, hopefully I'll be able to use the lens for it too 🙂
I think you'll do well with the Canon 350D or the Nikon D50 as they are both very capable cameras with the 350D have a slight edge on resolution but the D50 having more body features such as spot metering, auto ISO and a few other bits and pieces.
Given that you already have some Nikkor lenses then I would venture to suggest that Nikon is probably the way to go if you want to keep the price down.
IF you can find yourself a second hand D70 you will have it made! It is older than the current D70s so should be cheap. It has exactly the same feature set (if you upgrade the firmware) except a slightly smaller LCD and is a very nice body with excellent per pixel sharpness AND built in wireless remote flash features should you get yourself a real flash unit (which everyone should do!)
Having said that, if you are only ever going to stick your camera on Auto and snap away then stick with the D50 (or 350D) as their straight out of the camera jpegs are better (though you really want to shoot raw).
Regards

If you can stretch the budget another £90 or so, get yourself a 70-300G lens to go with it. It isn't the best lens in the world but is fantastic for the price and you'll love extra range.
You do realise you have now embarked on a money sucking adventure don't you!
Originally posted by rbmorrisCool.. the only reason am Nikonning it again, is because I have a normal filmy one, and a 80-200mm Nikkor zoom lens.. so that should fit nicely.
I just got a Canon Powershot SD450 5MP Digital Elph Camera with 3x Optical Zoom. Great camera for the money. I'm very happy with it.
