This is for discussion. Other thread is for predictions. Read it from the first page.

To recap on the discussion...

Freddie thinks Delmer is mad for backing America to beat Italy. Delmer wants to put sizeable amounts of money on the whole thing. Palynka is playing a cunning game, sizing up his opponents before moving in for the kill.

We have established that the world football rankings are useless.

We await Ragnorak and his eerily accurate predictions...

Despite being underdogs, its a class team, and I expect them to win against Italy.

Cheers.

I think the Czechs looked superb and Rosicky is another brilliantly cheap Wenger signing.

I also don't underestimate the Italians' ability to get results.

Did you see them against Ghana before the goal?! Defence was quite weak; Cannavaro was all over the place. The midfield was drawn into the centre leaving huge gaps on the wings. Now imagine giving Nedved, Rosicky and co. that kind of space. I think it might be an Italy vs Brazil 2nd round match.

I think my predictions are abit too conservative, but I'm expecting to get most results right if not the scores.

I can't believe they will play that badly in defence against the Czechs. Certainly they know the threat of Nedved as well as anyone.

I don't think they are used to playing teams like Ghana.

But yes, purely on that form, you'd have to lean towards the Czechs.

I read somewhere the average goals per game at the world cup is around 2.6.

As I'm sure you know, it's in the wrong thread.

You have unpicked my careful cross-threading.

I'm going to cry now. Maybe even the kind of crying where you make a noise.

Hey, Darv, maybe you'll answer my question. I was surprised Canada wasn't in this mix. Isn't Canada a big soccer playing country?

It's well known that Canada is the second largest country in the world in land area. And some us do play "soccer".

Ha ha ha. Seriously though, Del, we only allow our women to play that sport. That's why we don't have a team in the men's tournament.
