Do we really need all the fingers?

Do we really need all the fingers?

General

I mean, truth be told, some of them are used solely
because they're there, if at all.

Same goes for toes, really.

Are you proposing to divest yourself of a few?

What's the most fun you can have using 2 fingers and your thumb?

bowling

Thinking about it.

Everybody is nuts about body modifications nowadays, you name it:
tats, piercings, holes here and there, implants to have horns, inject dye
in the white of the eye, pointy ears a-la-Zelda, furry tails, etc.

I say to hell with that. If we're going to modify the body, let's make it
efficient instead of an emo, prison-art, spooky Christmas tree, or a
piece of anime.

I have to be honest and say that... I thought the same! 😛

Truth is that we do have them. As long as we do have them we find that we need them.

Some people lack fingers and they still can enjoy life...

In fact some people seem not to use their brain and still we thni it to be a necessary part of a human body.

True. I've been posting here for almost a decade without a
functioning brain and any sense of morality.

Yes we need all out fingers and thumb.

Thumb (The travelling digit) - Needed for hitching a lift.

Forefinger (The digit of accusation) - For pointing at things

Middle Finger (The Insult digit) - For giving someone 'The Finger'

Ring Finger (The love digit) - For displaying whether or not you are married.

Small Finger (the digit of cleanliness) - For getting wax out of your earhole.

Bear in mind that some processes are irreversible. Removing parts of the body is one of them. Why not try removing something smaller first? Your foreskin, for example, just to see whether you or someone else likes it better that way. Then you could move on to larger and more significant bits of your body later.

Foreskin: check!

It was done as part of Abraham's covenant, I'd say. I have no idea
how life with it is, since I don't remember getting it removed, so I
guess all cool.

Please elaborate.

I've been using that one precisely for such purpose, but I wouldn't
call that insulting. Unless it is non consensual, which is not only
insulting but kind of illegal.

Never having gotten used to a foreskin, I guess you don't know what you're missing. I rather think you might miss a digit though, having gotten used to them all by now. You could try taping two of them together for a while and see how that goes.

Done that.

When I played football, the line tapes two and two to avoid injuries.
I felt it gave me a better grip when holding and knocking down
opponents.
