Originally posted by Eager2LearnWhat may have happened on several of your challenges, Looking at your rating, many players were away and had several games timed out. Now they are needing to build themselves back to there proper level.
I have noticed that frequently I have been paired with individuals who's ability seems far beyond their current rating. They seem to play with an ability far beyond their rating. This does not seem right. Has anybody else out there experienced this? Please share if so, and if not maybe your thoughts of this subject might help
Thank You
There is also the fact that you are sub par in rating. 900+ ratings will suffer immensely against 1100+ opponents. This may not seem like a big jump but you will find most 1100-1300 players are heavy games players playing 100, 200 or more games at any one time.
INstead of focusing on who is playing better than their rating says they do, focus on improving your own play.

Well, I know what I said but that's really not my view. I find it hard to believe a 900 player could tell the difference in a beating by a 1300 or 1900 player, even I can get a run going winning a game by 5 pieces rather than just a pawn here and again.

Agreed. In my experience here and as a successful OTB player and chess teacher of over 30 years I am lead to believe that some players here in the range of 1300 to 1600+ sometimes use computer "assistance" since the concepts their moves initiate would indicate a player of much greater strength. Just my opinion.
deep moves never make me suspicious, but (some) unprincipled ones do. like a 2200+ player allowing (obvious) strong counterplay in a won ending. absolutely no human would do that, even if they thought it was the 'best' move. but an engine cuts through all the complications and plays the horribly complicated move instead of the easy, safe but much slower winning move.
