As do I, though I use it more to play DVDs on than anything.

He's probably asking if it's better than an XBox, which everyone seems to be constantly arguing about these days. Well, I have done scientific research and analyzed both models up and down, and my conclusion after studying my data from numerous experiments is that XBox is crap. Thank you. Have a lolli.

I luv my PS2.

No more hassles trying to get a game to work.PC gamers know what I am talking about.
Update drivers, turn off this and that, wait for patches etc.

With consoles, games actually work, straight out of the box!

X-box is getting better.EA sports announced all of its major sports titles will be on X-box live.Unfortunately,X-box live currently requires a subsription fee once the free trial runs out.

Pretty much all online Ps2 games are currently free to play online.(if you don't count your internet connection and a network adapter)

GTA-San Andreas is due out this fall and is gonna be very, very good.I beleive it will be exclusive to the PS2 for the first 6 months or so

Also due out this fall is Gran Turismo 4 which promises much and looks great so far.

Nascar Thunder 05,also due out in the fall, will feature 4 player online racing.Thats gonna be cool as all heck(if you like Nascar games)

Another diamond in the rough is HotShots Golf which will feature a ton of players online at the same time as opposed to 2 player with Tiger Woods 04 and 05

Right now,I would still recommend PS2 over X-Box,but both are good.

GC is dead so don't even bother.

One little thing against the Ps2 is most of the online gaming is for North American made consoles only.A European market console will not pass DNAS and allow the player online.
However,a North American market PS2 will work overseas.Military personnel takes theirs overseas and have no major problems connecting to US based servers.

I have a PS2 and it's fab tho I too generally use it more for watching DVDs. The only benefit I can see with the xbox is being able to plug a gameboy to it... My fave game...and the only one I've been able to complete is 'Devil may Cry.' If anyone knows it and can recommend something similair I'd appreciate it. Loved Vice & Getaway but I'm too rubbish to be able to complete them ;-(

About the on-line gaming, I live in Europe and have no problems at all. It are just totally different servers!

Vice City rocked as well, can't wait for SA to come arround! 🙂

There is a Playboy game out or coming out.
Don't know how raunchy it is.

You should NOT use your PS2 to play CDs or DVDs.The lens is of such low quality that Sony, itself, even prefers its customers not use it for CD/DVDs.

It almost always results in the PS2 not be able read game discs after a fairly short time. You get the "disc read error" message.Sony will replace the lens free of charge(u pay s&h) or you can fix it yourself fairly easily(voids warranty though)

And yes there are European servers for some games like SOCOM but many games only have a publisher sponsored servers in the US/NA.EA Sports for example.

Here's a good quote about XBox:

"Saying the Xbox is a good system because it's powerful is like saying you made a great painting because you used the best set of paints."

Stick with PS2; a better quality and variety of games. The ONE thing Game Cube has that I really miss is the Resident Evil series; I will never forgive Capcom for giving Nintendo exclusive rights to that franchise.

Hm... never encountered any of the problems you mentioned here!
