If you play an engine?
Personally to me, no it doesn`t. I just wondered with all this witch hunting going on.
Surely there is a limit to the moves people and machines can make, unless one is a new grand master protage and will have books written about them in the distant future wtf? Lets face the facts that there are only a small percentage of players here that playing an enging would make all that much of a difference to, and it seems that those people are so far up their own a$$es that i couldn`t really give a damn anyway.
I have probably played and lost to engine users, but didn`t go crying about it. Give it a rest, or pretty soon i can imagine this place being a desert of anal retentive insecure geeks.

Well, I could just buy an engine, play against it and not come here I suppose.
Or, I could buy an engine and watch it play itself, eliminate the middleman.

Out of your 164 game, can you be certain that none were against an engine?
Originally posted by PaulieI am in with you Paulie, but not everyone agrees...its old hat and its really not that big a deal.... it doesnt affect me because my rating isnt good but for the players it did have some effect on they can rest easy knowing that they were a lot better than they thought they were, and lost to an engine rather than the man...
Big vote 😴

Do you see where I'm heading with this?
EDIT: I HATE witchhunts, but I'd rather play against a human here and I think most other players would rather play humans here too.
Originally posted by KneverKnightYeah, but my point is that say if even five of those games people used an engine against you just to make a couple of moves, would you have known, and would it really have made that much difference?

I also don't know what difference it would have made; it's pretty vague.
Then again, I'm just a casual player ...
Originally posted by PaulieI am here to play against a couple of friends of mine that live in different states than I do. On the side, if my friends are not moving, I'll take a game from whoever wants to play against me. If a challenger happens to be an engine, I'll lose, my rating will drop, and tomorrow will be another day. That's me. However, I don't play in clans, I don't play tournaments (inelligible for both), and I have not spent a year working hard to get an admirable rating. So, I can understand those that are here to satisfy their competitive nature to want to play fair games. They want to see how they measure against other players, not against an engine, and I can't blame them at all. I especially understand the subs that don't want to play an engine. Would you have paid the membership fee if you'd known that engine use was rampant in this site, or would you have gone elsewhere? If you would have gone elsewhere, then it matters to you too.
