I also use to live next door to a family who had two small children (6 and 7yrs old) with scars on their faces. I asked about them one day and the 6 yr old girl was attacked and mauled my a neighbors golden retriever. A week later the same dog attacked her brother.
So to ban only certain aggressive breeds isn't going to put an end to dog attacks. Responsible ownership will.
