Does anyone understand what on Earth this oclassic game is all about? I've just downloaded a 'Retro' version of it, and it makesabsolutely no sense whatsoever to me?

I remember I loved it along with Lords of Midnight, but I can't help you now. It's been a long long time. I remember losing an immense time just mapping the territory to find the castles, ruins, etc.

It needs many many hours, though (even if probably you can find maps online nowadays)

Cheers anyways. I can't even start to suss it without even the key controls and any background. It just appears as random screens to me. I'll stick to jet set willy for now(As long as I don't punch **** out of mykeyboard in frustration).

I probably have the instructions for doomdark buried somewhere, although it could take me a very long time to find them!

Where are you getting these games from? I'm having flashbacks to a Spectrum childhood spent in a land filled with Commodore 64s!

From here: -

But I can't download the emulators because the links don't work. Half the retro games don't seem to work either.

All I've managed to get up and running is JS Willy and Chuckie Egg.

PS Hint for chuckie egg: Don't assign 'P' as a direction key because it is preassigned as 'pause'. Took me half my hair to fathom that one.

This is suposed to be a good one too. But I never seem to have the time or patience to figure out these emulators and get them up and running.

I googled Doomdark's revenge and found a WEALTH of websites. The very first one (icemark.com) seemed to have an awful lot of info including a version of the manual.

I remember the basic plot now - having to rescue a prince who's fallen under an evil spell. And of course he starts at the opposite end of the map from the characters you control.

I had a spectrum emulator running on my last computer a couple of years ago, it seemed to work pretty well except one of my favourite games had been 'snapshotted' with the Kempston joystick controls locked in place.

Suddenly I'm thinking of games I wanna play again! Ooh, have you found Zynaps anywhere?! I loved that one!

EDIT: Oh my God! That site has STARQUAKE! *Squeals and faints*

EDIT: if yu can figure aout how to get the bloody thing to work though, please let me know. I keep on downloading these emulators, and even when the emulator install and runs, I download the game and try to open it with the emulator and........... Jack diddly.

Just started looking at world of spectrum, the emulator I used last time was 'Multimachine'. I'm going to read the FAQ though and figure out if there's a better one with Windows XP.

I'm on 2K. Seems to be a lot less options with my cranky OS.

The emulator called 'Spin' seems to be working pretty easily for me. Have you tried that one?

Rebelstar. Simply the best Spectrum game ever. And it only cost £2.99.
