Ah...I completed Doomdark's Revenge and Lords of Midnight eventually, on an Amiga, I think.
I also had them without instructions and they took me ages to figure out.
Can't remember now, of course.

I wasted half a life playing School Daze. And the other half looking at that Game Over poster. Woo.

World Of Spectrum has to be one the best websites - excellent.
Have you tried Klass of 99?

EDIT: Don't bother. I've just been playing it for an hour and it said 'KO99 has developed errors and is shutting down'. 😠

Absolutely. Great game by Mike Singleton on the Spectrum. Follow up to Lords of Midnight. Bigger but easier!

You need to move around and talk to everyone. Recruit as many as possible. Different characters are better at recruiting. Try and avoid a fight until you have built up a strong army. I managed to win it by recruiting everyone. Not an easy task. Much harder, in fact, than fighting.

I've now found another of my favourite games - a puzzle game called Sophistry, and I'm in Spectrum heaven.

Ranarama after that. And then a little Starquake, I think...

If you go to www.icemark.com this should answer a lot of your questions on how the game works.
