Draw Requests

Draw Requests

Khalid, Spellbound, and Stigster have repeatedly requested draws.
When I ask for their reasons, they do not respond. They request a
draw every day. It has been 3 days now. This is a total waste of my
time. Can something be done to put an end to this stalling tactic? It is
bad enough when one player does it. Now I have three players doing it
every day.

Be brave: accept the draws and never play them again. and when
everybody acts in the same way, they'll be off soon enough. Jan

posting their names here will help - I have the same problem with
Andy Webb, who has been offering a draw since 28th April in a game
he has lost - so if none of us play them it will stop the problem.

Combine the forces comrades! Publish the names of ALL these silly
non-chessplayers and give them a kick in the ass. That's where it
hurts. Ban them. They don't belong here, nor anywhere else where
CHESS is played! Jan

Chrismo should help people with this problem, Maybe he doesnt have
the time now but putting this in schedule it most be a good Idea.

We all could be affected in the future.

Exactly! I think a few names have already been brought up...but I
agree with Jan..just let it go..give them the draw and never play them
again...and let all of the others know this is what that person
does...then they will get tired of it and hopefully leave.

Cheaters never get a way with it forever.

This problem has been around for over a year now.

If you use the 'search forum' feature recently added, and enter the
word 'draw', you will see that this very subject has been discussed
since at least May of 2001. As far as I can tell, nothing has been
done to correct the problem.

I have no idea if anything ever will be done about it.

Yup this problem has been going on for a while.
I hope it is Chrs/Russ's next thing to fix.
And it is a fix that is need, since the problem IS A BUG!!!
And it seems to be being abused more and more abused as time goes on.

Some things that might help, barring an actual fix by Chris and Russ.

1) Offer to become a pawnstar IF and AFTER the problem is fixed. Point is to let chris and russ
know that not fixing this is costing them much needed financial support. I've been lucky that I
haven't had such a bad experience, but it would be very frustating to have it happen, knowing that
is shouldn't happen at all. For intance, I know that -if this site becomes a pay site, which it may - I
wouldn't pay UNTIL this was fixed.

2) I'll happily maintain a list of nicks that do this and repost it occasionally. If people think it
useful.

3) We pawnstars could launch a counter attack against the offenders. Since we have unlimited
games, ten of us could effectively wipe out the a**holes with very little personal cost. Once every 3
to 21 days, remember to hit "offer draw". (Of course now they will be on the lookout - assuming
they can read).

There are numerous posts below and I basically agree with all them
(posts up to the time of this posting that is). Mention has been made
of Chris/Russ fixing it - an option to "offer a draw" has to be there,
so maybe limit the number of "draw" offers to two per game. I have
been playing chess (VERY badly) for 30years and have NEVER come
across a game where more than one offer of a draw was needed let
alone two.
Maybe make it really final and have the RHP computer programmed
where if you offer a draw for the third time it automatically takes that
as a resignation. I too have experienced the constant offer of a draw,
it is VERY frustrating.

This is a really good idea you have to solve the problem. It lets the
computer be the bad guy. Plus the "perpetrators" have their own self-
destruct button. Beautiful!

There is nothing wrong in making draw offers. There is also nothing in
the rules of chess to limit the number of offers made per game.
What seems to be the problem here is that the programme allows
draw offers to be made WITHOUT FIRST MAKING A MOVE.
I myself have not been affected by this, and I am no computer expert
but is it possible to have the "offer a draw" option disabled unless the
player is making a move??
Kind regards
John

That would fix the problem.

Now all we have to do is find someone to actually do it.

this should definetly be changed to offering a draw ONLY after a move is made.
although one can offer a draw before his/her move is made, usually everyone at
tournaments requests that the move first be made, then the draw offer. this
could be easily implemented just by taking away the draw option when its ur
move, but u can offer a draw any number of times when it is ur opponents move.
although it might get annoying to keep refusing draw offers, u can at least keep
the game going

in my game with vaknso,we carried on playing moves and offered
draws via the chat box. i know the cheaters wont do this, but for the
rest it is usefull to let your opponant see your move as you offer a
draw.
