I love to play chess, however, I did not realize that there was a sub
culture to all of this.
Can some one tell me if this falls into the catagory of "band nerd"
or "dungeons and dragons"?

Why I'm horribly offended. (Grin grin)
All my band geek friends play D&D. And vice versa. Except for a couple of stoners who played D&D.
But they played guitar, though poorly I might add.

in High School..not only was I a "Band Fag" (that is what we were
called) on the Chess,Academic and Debate teams...but also the
leading scorer as Wide out on the football team.

S I never really fit in totally to one "clic"...but I bet all of the ones that
give people these labels are now bagging groceries or something.

Playing chess is NOT nerdy.

It is art.

No.

According to R Kelly - sum1 I currently have the displeasure of
playing - any one whoplays chess for fun is a "geek" (please note
this is a quotation.

Also according to him, he is far better than the rest of us, in terms of
money and intellect. Interesting.

Personally, chess helps me relax and I Love you guys!!!!
so keep writing computer programmes and watching star trek, yeah!!!!
