Since it doesn't appear that the great scourge of capitalism is going to be overthrown anytime soon, I've decided to call off the revolution for the moment and venture warily into the perilous capitalist waters. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em...I guess.

I have a great interest in geography and have been collecting World currency for some time now. So I've put that knowledge to good use and have opened up my very own eBay store: El Dorado Banknotes. I sell World banknotes for currency collectors. I currently have 27 different banknotes in stock, from 25 countries. Well...some of them aren't really countries, but they issue their own currency anyway. Anyway, most of them are very attractive. Certainly more so than U.S. currency, which is pretty ugly.

But as I have spent most of my years plotting to send the bloated plutocrats to the guillotine rather than trying to edge into their marketplace myself, I could use some constructive critique of my store. Also, any tips on eBay merchandising would be helpful. It's been up since noon and it appears I've made one sale already. Of course, if all you die-hard capitalists out there want to try to wean this longtime socialist back into the real world, you should do what you can to make sure my little venture is a success. A small purchase on your part would go a long way to doing just that.

Nice collection RW.

I should think that if you wish to appeal to those who aren't specialist bank note collectors (and thus are unlikely to have a particular note already in mind), then pictures are key. For instance, I have an interest in photography, and so might wish to take, say, macro images of interesting bank notes. I'd be more likely to purchase from someobody who displays pictures of both the front and the back of the notes (as one of your competitors does). I had only a quick scan through but I saw only single images of your notes. Unless there's a compelling reason to do otherwise, might it be an idea to put up pictures of both the front and back?

Yes, I had considered doing both front and back. Perhaps that will be an upgrade in the near future.

Woo hoo! I sold three items on my first day in business. With shipping charges I made $9.75.

Now I just have to figure out how to print an invoice.

Good luck at eBay.

I went through a stamp-collecting phase when I was 12 to 14, but never did any more with it. My brother was a coin collector in his youth. Currency collecting--that is something I had not heard of.

Five sales now, including one from Canada. At this rate it'll take me just over two months to make back the cost of my starting inventory. The 5,000 Lei banknote from Romania is the top seller so far.

No, I'm not a broker. I don't deal in currency trading. I only sell individual notes to collectors.

It is important to understand a system fully before overthrowing and replacing it.
If you start selling Northern Bank notes in bulk you might get a visit or two......
