Just listening to the new single, "Forget Myself" - there's a stream on

Great stuff, if the album is anywhere near as good they're right back on form after a slightly disappointing second album.

You seem to think that because someone doesn't share your likes and/or dislikes, that they must have 'poor taste'. That is a very narrow minded attitude. Different tastes, yes, but poor taste? Please tell me who or what defines what good and bad taste is? Apart from the obvious cheap, tacky formulated crap that boy bands and the likes purport to have written themselves. What really makes someone a musical connousieur? I like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepelin, Pink Floyd, REM, Ocean Colour Scene, Bob Dylan, Metallica, yes Metallica, The Stereophonics, The Cure, Crowded House...... The list goes on. And on. This in my eyes is 'My taste' In music. Call It good or bad, I don't care. I enjoy listening to it.

Pretty arbitrary of you if you ask me), you're forgetting that I never said you had objectively bad taste, I just said you had bad taste. I don't know why you're taking it all so seriously, really, I would have thought an Ocean Colour Scene fan would have had a sense of humour about music.

Why do you feel that just because you have different taste that it somehow makes you superior. Blah. Anyways, fjuck it, I'm off for a beer. Much to your dismay, I'll be back in a few hours. 😛

PS So you are having trouble distinguishing between The Back Street Boys and Jimi Hendrix? And you say I have bad taste. You don't know your arse from your Elbow mate. Please excuse the pun. Also I would like to ask you if you actually play any musical instruments yourself, or do you just think that your opinion is more valid than anyone elses without any basis.
Originally posted by jimslyp69Well, now, I thought you were engaging in Sunday-night banter earlier on and played along, but this is getting a little silly. Your mistake was to come into a thread recommending a band and then start slagging it off (fine up to this point), but then to assume that my contradicting you in the same light-hearted spirit constitutes some kind of "slanging match". You take the Internet far too seriously, which is your undoubted prerogative, but don't be too surprised when other people don't follow your example.

As for your substantive point, who said anything about distinctions or validity? More to the point, what makes the Back Street Boys objectively worse than Jimi Hendrix? I don't think they are, but evidently you have some kind of transcendentally objective criterion hidden somewhere up your musicological fundament.
