sundream,
people can only embarrass you to the extent that you worry what other people think of you. i know that doesn't help in the case of someone you fancy, because of course you worry about what they think of you. in cases like that, try to make it into a humorous situation - that way you show that you realise your parent's behaviour is embarrassing, but also that you can deal with it. but be careful not to direct the humour at your parents - or at least show that you don't mean it in a bad way.

You're 23 and can't spell properly? Please tell me truthfully you have a intellectual impairment, or something...

this is a bit mean isn't it? someone is asking for advice and reassurance here, and all you can do is pick on their spelling. maybe sundream is really good at something you suck at - would you like it if she suggested this meant you have an intellectual impairment? good spelling does NOT equal intelligence anyway...

Aye. A huge wave of pedantism seems to have passed over the forums. It's becoming a bit tedious now.

Hey, I didn't mean that, but it is sad if someone is 23 and can't spell. Apologies to sundream. Anyway, don't go off at me about teasing people about intellectual impairments, my brother has down syndrome, I put up with more sh!t in a week than most people do in a year.

So as my Aunty Hilda has a weight problem, I am allowed to call people fat with impunity? Rightio then.

At the risk of being pedantic, it's 'pedantry', not 'pedantism'.
