Which countries have you already ruled out?

Australia seems to meet all your criteria bar housing, which isn't cheap I think.

There's also Spain. Pretty much meets all your criteria too. Depending on your taste in music.

Paris has it all but it's bloody expensive as I'm sure you know.

Blah blah.
Okay, countries I've ruled out are:

Spain, my ex is from Madrid and besides, it's too damn hot and apart from flamenco, their music sucks.

USA, Bush, Christian zealots and celebrity politicians.

France, too much like England

Australia, too hot, too good at cricket

New Zealand, too close to my extended family, too far away from reality

That's it for the moment

Have you considered Canada? Specifically Montreal. Excellent music scene. Low rental prices as well. Occupational opportunities for English speaking persons. Lots of culture. It's clean. The transportation is great... I could go on...

Okay, I've had it up ot here with this country. London is rubbish, there's rubbish everywhere, the transport system is rubbish, my job is rubbish, the music scene is rubbish and the people are rubbish. TO cut a rubbish story short, I'm moving.

So it's up to you lot where I'm going to settle. There are certain pre-requisites to this as follows:

...[text shortened]... ld be good job prospects for her too, though not essential

So, that's about it, over to you.
Well, actually, Heidelberg would match most of your criteria πŸ˜‰
-not much crime
-on the property next to my house is SAS, a major software company, and we also have SAP in the city.
-Live music is great if you know where to go (that's where I come in πŸ˜‰)
-Well... ok, housing prices are bad, I think it's the 9th highest German city concerning that aspect. But if you're satisfied with the suburbs-about 25 minutes with the tram (yeah, the tram goes there... goes like every 5 minutes during the day)-it's ok.
-nearly everybody knows English... it's such a tourist magnet and we have an american military village around the corner (... great for bowling πŸ˜€)
-Does she teach biology or Geography? Our school is desperately in search of English-speaking teachers for those subjects πŸ˜‰ And English of course πŸ˜›

lalala, Liam's moving here *hops off singing*

I propose a hovel in Turkey. It won't cost much, and music always plays in the street in which you live. You can get a nice job as an opium farmer, and your wife can teach the locals for 2 rupees per session.
I would say the currency of Turkey is not rupee... maybe you wanted to write India!

i would suggest Uagadagu the capital of Burkina-Faso...
- no crime (poeple usually have no willing of killing each other , 'cuz the biggest killer is hunger)
- you can get and a nice house for 5$ a months (or a year if you search good)
- high rate of ICT development, you will find a job right away...
- no AIDS, just couple of million people in the WHOOOOLE country!

Try Japan. I have lived here for two years. Great food. Great ladies. Beautiful county outside the Cesspools of Tokyo and Osaka. NOT Chrisitain. Good music scene. housing is not cheap, but yo can save 500 quid a month easy and buy a nice house in Zimbabwe or Kazakstan after you retire. Also, no pollution compared to China and Russia-i Lived in Russia for 5 years..heaps of pollution.

Or Better yet disappear into India or China....you may never come back butit would be a hell of away to go......

Ps. Plus they have Shougi here another great strategy game Like Chess.
