I'm really hoping the US has a good showing again. If we do, interest in soccer will increase and make us more competitive in the years to come.
England on the other hand have great chances this year. If Rooney is fit and on form, there will be few teams lining up for the anthems without a few butterflies!! Beckham looks good (the best he's looked for some years now), Gerrard is a GOD, Lampards not far behind him. I have a few niggling doubts about our defense should we meet any super teams like Brazil, but having watched our last 6 or 7 games, i am confident we can score goals against the best of them. Having been a critic of Croach's, i am pleased to see him finally scoring goals! If he has to be in the team (as Errikson seems to dig him), then we best hope he pulls off a few more performances like he has in the last two games! I just pray he drops that stupid robot dance as it makes him look like a right twat!
Looking at the tables, i'd be surprised if i was the only person praying we come second in our group!! If we win then we'll face Germany, then probably Portugal, then Brazil!! If there is a harder route to the final i want to hear it!! 🙁

Originally posted by marinakatombGermany will probably go into the other half, because they will win their group, meaning we should get Poland in round two. If we come second in our group we play Germany, Argentina and Italy (most likely).

Originally posted by Derfel CadarnI think the US have got a pretty decent side (especially Convey and Hahnneman 😉 - will either play?), they just got unlucky with their group, probably the second tougest after the Argentine-Holland group. They did well in 2002 though and they'll definitely put up a fight, I still remember that win over Portugal, what a game.

Originally posted by TheGambitI actually have a new found respect for soccer after finding out that they run an AVERAGE of 6 miles a game, with dozens of 10-40 yard sprints, jumping 2 or 3 feet in the air a few times, and all that jazz. Never knew that.

Edit: was reading an article that claimed the Us was the best conditioned team in the Cup this year.
