I have been OK ~ decisive and swift ~ with "the other ones" [topics] over the last six years; it's just the prospect of starting this particular topic where I have been afflicted by excessive uncertainty.

I thought dithering was only needed when rendering or converting to a format with a lower resolution, to prevent noticeable artifacts.

(Admittedly, this forum might count as such a format.)
