External Hard Drive Help!!!

When I moved my laptop with my external hard drive still connected, the USB tugged out, and now when I re-connect it, it makes a very strange sound for around 5 minutes, then stops and doesn't show up in My Documents. The green light to say it is connected is on, but the computer isn't recognising it.

The simplest answer I can give you is that it's broken and you should buy a new one. Drive making very strange sound = dead (depending on the very strange sound, but I think I'm right)

Have you tried a new USB lead?
Have you tried a different USB port?
Can you try it on a different computer?


Noise is not a good sign 😕

Try splashing a little water on it, that should take care of the strange noise.

ive had similar problem. Test by gently pick it up and take a step backwards ......... still not working? take another step backwards.......working now? if not take another step back & if its still not working youve go the wrong cable plugged in gg
