I love the Contraforte Bassoon by Wolf, but when it comes to the standard bassoon...

Heckel, Puchner, Moosman, Fox... which one is best?

You see, the bassoon in Italian is il fagotto.

Pearls before swine.

Or perhaps my exquisite bon mot was so loved that none wanted to reply lest they mar its beauty?

I will lean toward the latter as I enjoy a delicious serving of blueberry yogurt.

Nordlys is the RHP woodwind and strings expert I think. Maybe she missed this thread.

No, I didn't miss it, but I am no woodwind expert at all. I'd have to ask some fagott player.

As for me, I love Vivaldi's Concerto per fagotto RV 498, but I wouldn't have a clue as to whose instruments are best suited to perform it. When it comes to enjoying the bassoon, I'm purely a passive enthusiast.

Mozart wrote great bassoon parts.
