Fair to play in tourny as p1200?

I subscribed to RHP (yay!), entered the KID tournament and then withdrew because I don't know how fair it is to the other players. What is everyone's take on a provisional (whose rating is a fair bit higher than p1200) entering tournaments before at least 20 games? I have no problem waiting until my given rating better reflects, I mean, I don't want to sandbag any points or anything. Any input will be appreciated.

That was thoughtful of you, if you have the patience, wait it out. Even when you are p and 15 games you'll have a more fair rating perspective for others to view.

Also, when I joined I joined a MOAK tourney... I finally got knocked out THIS YEAR... so...

If you want to join, go ahead (It's not a BANDED tourney, right?)

What group size is it?

I say either way you do the right thing, it's up to you.

Just wondering.
How do you know your rating is "a fair bit higher than p1200" ?

Question 2. What rating does that mean?

Group 12...

Doesn't that give you 24 games or something?! I woke up one day with 36 or so games after joining my second tourney... I didn't expect that, didn't read the fine print.

It's a King's Indian Defense open tournament, and I got some positive "go for it" responses in another forum, so I jumped back in the tournament. wheee! It's my first RHP tournament so I don't know exactly what to expect so I will just wait and hopefully names will appear in the "my games" section to tell me who/when to play. It's an open tournament, not banded; I realize that joining a banded tournament while underrated would be very unfair to other entrants, so I will not join one of those for a long time.

The group size is 12-24 and it's called a "split" tournament.
