Farms

Hello, This is my first ever post, so i thought id try and add a thought provocing question just to guage peoples reactions. so here we go:

Why do we, in a modern technologically advanced society (in the western world) require farms, and a farming industry when to gain substanence (ie. Food), we can simply go to a super market?

Any thoughts?

I totally agree, why do we need to walk when we can drive everywhere.
