Platoon!

What fear the Americans had against little untrained Asians....!

That fear caused them to rape, pillage and destroy small villages of indigenous peoples because they went in, yet again, blindly into a world of policing that was none of their business! 😛... 😲😲

Was Vietnam threatening America? No, the Vietnamese were all terrorists, of course! 😛

Then again, it was just a fictional film, wasn't it?

Platoon is also one of my favorites. It is closely followed by Saving Private Ryan but I still think Platoon is the superior film.

My favorite, however, is Breaker Morant.

Thank you. Breaker Morant is something I have never seen or heard about, but just read up on the internet, and appears to be very interesting. Is it moving, in a similar way of Platoon, in that young men were thrown into something they didn't understand, or have any idea what they were actually being there for?

I felt Saving Private Ryan was dishonest, grotesque 50s' style sentimentality. And I think Spielberg made amends, somewhat, by producing Band Of Brothers.

Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now (redux)

Also reccommend the little known 'The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp' if you fancy some old school.
