I know what you mean. Most sneakers in the stores are WAY too pimped out. I prefer simple, functional, lightweight ones. I like Nike shoes, but for the gym, I'm finding that New Balance ones are often lighter, cheaper, simpler and equally comfortable.

For casual sneakers, I like my black Converse high tops or Pumas.

Nike Air Max 360 are the most comfortable. They retail for $160, but i get them at a Nike outlet store for $40. I only wear them for jogging and i still have the same pair for 4 years. If you have bad feet and ankles they're the best.

I've a pair of Addidas gazelles in chocolate brown,with beige stripes,(very nice) and also a pair of Addidas original Stan Smith(the ones with the green bit above the heel),both shoes are very comfortable and look rather cool.🙂
