...but what if they are right.

That's one of mine 2. Is it because they fear changes?

describe - IN FULL - your worst fear(s) and if you have experienced it/them before?
But my worst fear has to be losing my children.
When my second daughter was born and immidiately began turning blue, my heart knew fear. Panic overtook me and reality began to slow down. Our minds aren't too quick in absorbing fear. It seeps into us slowly, overtaking disbelief.
Even now that my children are growing and are healthy, worrying about their safety is still my greatest fear.
Every time I hear a story of a child being kidnapped, abducted, molested or killed I sieze up with fear.
I one time turned my back for a second and could not find my daughter anywhere. The amount of thoughts that surged through my mind in a slit second almost led me to pass out.
Thankfully I found the little brat hiding alongside a parked car playing with a clump of tar. I didn't know wether to kill her or kiss her! ( I went with the kiss) But the terror of that moment lives on.
There have been similiar moments like these in the course of 10yrs of parenting. It never gets easier and it's not a fear you can overcome either, like a fear of spiders. Anything bringing harm to your child is true terror.

I partially agree with you about ignorance, though. It's not exactly ignorance itself, but those that think they are immune to it. Everyone is ignorant, considering the knowledge that is yet unknown to us, so I'd have to say I fear proclaimers of the truth.
Edit: Fear is a passive word, so I would say I abhor them

When my son was born, his head was pressing on the umbilical cord, and his heart almost stopped.
He finally poppped out as the surgeon arrived to do an emergency caesarian.
Whenever I hear about a child being killed or molested on the news, I just go cold.
