Thirty years ago. Was 1990 a standout year for good films, towering above 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1991, 1992, 1993?

Was 1990 better than 2020?

“Ghost” hasn’t stood up well to the scrutiny of time.

I must give “Dances with Wolves” another airing though.

If found Jacobs Ladder quite disturbing first time around, excellent movie.

Yes indeed. Much more disconcerting that standard horror fare.

I know this is not your cup of tea, but it is on topic...

I finally got around to watching The Rise of Skywalker last week, most disappointing. In fact I’d say the entire Star Wars core additive catalogue has been disappointing, except for Rogue One which was excellent.

Then you haven't seen the animated series The Clone Wars, nor The Mandelorian, I take it?

I understand your review of the prequel and sequel trilogies, but I must remind you that they are NOT "the entire Star Wars core additive catalogue".

I did a final paper in Edward Scissorshands for a Film Studies Uni course a few years back...it’s solid cinematography.

Misery is real storytelling...

The rest are guilty pleasures 😁

Nothing special about 1990 for me though upon looking 1989 to 1997 was when the most sequels and prequels came out.

I watched many good films during the 90's but in 1990 I recall:

Green Card
Hamlet
Fantasia
Awakenings
