Final Fantasy (Fainaru Fantajī?) is a series of computer and console role-playing games produced by Square Enix (originally Square Co., Ltd.). It is a role play game which means your youngling has picked a character with basis stats and powers. Through playing, defeating enemies and development of the story, and questing (absolving quests of the computer for which he gets rewards like money and or better equipment) he gets experience points through witch his character gets stronger and better. He is probably able to cast magic (the stronger the charac the cooler and more bad the magic damage).
So he probably will keep on playing for a long time.
If it is a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game) he plays together and communicates with players of his country or all over the world. They compete and most games offers two fractions where the players then can fight other human controlled characters of the other fraction.
Danger is through participation in Groups of human players like clans that he has to do his duty and play with them like on a must play basis.
Final Fantasy is a good and clean game. You should keep an eye on his game time but as long as he keeps up in school and don´t look like in day of the dead everything should be cool.
When he/she have spare time and you want to connect with her/him ask him whether you could start yourself a character and let him explain it to you.
