Generally at the beginning of a game I say 'G'day' or 'Let's play' or something pretty mundane.

What are some of the first responses you've received?

I just had "Yes, let's have chess pleasure"

...thought, yep that's about right.

'Loser' has it's merits it would add a large incentive not to be one. A motivator.

'Thanks for the invite'; or 'Hi, how have you been'; or a comment on the last move of the previous game.

Sounds as if your games are serious competitions; mine at this point are casual and conversational (often unrated).
