C'mon Australia!

Have my gentle remarks at the expense of engerland's mighty football gods caused offence?
I'm not really sure why you're surprised - Scotland won and engerland lost. To a team that's not even a real country. Did you really expect that people in Scotland wouldn't have something to say about that? Did you really expect that we'd put up with garbage in the 'british' media about engerland's chances of winning the world cup and then hold our bladders when they fall on their faces at the qualifying stages?
I realise that engerland will probably still qualify, and Scotland probably won't. That doesn't mean we can't have a bit of fun at each other's expense in the process.

It's just the English are so smarmy when it comes to supporting their team.
Even if they're playing really crap, if they win it's: "We're the best in the world and blah blah blah blah"
And then when they lose (even if they played alright) it's: "Sack the bloody manager!"
Same as the Dutch really...

The supposedly 'british' meeja is, in fact, english. And the rest of grate britain is expected to just put up with it and go along with it.
This isn't an anti-english sentiment - it is a pro-Scottish sentiment.
If we had our own media, we would report on the english team much as we do the Irish or French - impartially, as you would with a neighbouring nation. And you probably wouldn't see what you perceive as 'anti-english venting'.
However, while Scotland is treated like an english annex, we'll take delight in the sporting mishaps of our over-bearing big brother.

We do have our own media and we do.
😏
......That doesn't mean we can't have a bit of fun at each other's expense in the process.I think for 99.9% of english and scottish people it is just that - a bit of fun.
It speaks volumes for me that although we may boo each other's national anthems and have a right old laugh when the others lose, when it comes to a minutes silence for someone dying or something like that, more often than not it is respected among the whole crowd.
