I'm a pilot (yes I am, really).
I'm sh*t scared of flying, so I always have a couple of beers before I get behind the wheel. (No, not really.)
Don't worry about bits falling off, that only happens in the movies (and Korean Air planes). Don't worry about terrorists, they only fly on planes with a business class section. Don't worry about bombs, because ...[text shortened]... branch of the Mile-High-Club (the straight section or the back-to-front brigade)....
I feel better already 😵
I don't understand the fear of flying. I love it. I am much less afraid of going up in an airplane than I am getting into a vehicle. Chances of getting into a high speed collision up in the air are slim to none as compared to driving over to the corner store.
I get alot of anxiety driving on the highway. Especially behind those stupid logging trucks. And we have moose and deer that jump out into the roads all the time. I'm guessing the chances of that up in a plane are slim to none as well.

Are you scared of flying? If so, does it stop you from doing it or are you strong enough to face the fear and get on the plane?
I'm sitting looking at a Ryanair booking for tomorrow and all things considered, I don't need to make this trip, so my chicken-hearted indecisive streak is preventing me from booking.
I know it hardly makes an entertainin ...[text shortened]... me enough that there is nothing to fear I may take heart and book (before the price goes up).
The real beauty of the flying experience is, once in the air your guaranteed to come back down. Physics baby. Take offs are optional, landings mandatory.
Oh and by the way, when the flight attendant goes through her safety spiel and says "in the unlikely event of a water landing", well that's not a landing ... it's called a crash and your destination has just become the "scene of the accident".
Enjoy the friendly skys.

And at risk of sounding like an internet letch you are also by FAR the most attractive woman at RHP.
Flying is a natural fear really, for many people. I flew today and was a different person when we landed, yet I knew that there was no real risk, otherwise I wouldn't have gone. I just scare myself with my thoughts sometimes.
I'm changing jobs soon, moving from Italy to Kyrgyzstan (honestly)and for that there is a 10 or so hour flight. I will be very tense on it and before it, but I'll still go.
Go to www.tefl.com and see what opportunties I and thousands like me have. It'd be crazy to let a phobia stop me, so I won't.
I suspect fear of flying is not actually rooted in perceived danger; we all know it's far safer to get on a plane than a car or a bus.
I'm not afraid of flying, but I don't like it because I can never sleep and I get depressed when every conversation around me combines in my Su Doku-addled mind with the realisation that the plane contains a fairly representative cross-section of western civilisation.
The main reason I don't like flying doesn't apply to you if you're on RyanAir, however. This reason is that when I fly, I often end up spending time in Canada 😛.
