My whole life I was a creature of habit and I would only eat what I knew I liked, I would never try anything. Anything I ate was what I have always eaten since childhood.
So far in 2010 I have discovered three wonderful foods that I am now in love with.
1. Chicken lo mein, the noodles always scared me away and I would go with rice instead of trying it. Man alive this crap is good.
2. Twinkies, they come in packs of two but that is never enough. I never got these as a kid because my folks were poor and lame. I am now working on my sucking technique to get the cream out first.
3. OLIVES!! These things are good. The green pitted spicy ones are my favorite. Of course I went my whole life avoiding them and always refusing to try them. Everyone said I would love them because I love pickles and the like.
Why didn't I just listen to them?! WHY!?
I don't think I am going to try anything new for a while now.
These three new wonderful foods are enough.
I am still a creature of habit.

As a child the only vegetables I ate were potatoes, processed peas, cucumber, tomatoes and radishes. Now I love all veg, with the exception of celery.
I wish I liked celery because it always looks good and I like the crunchy sound when people eat it raw. π

As a kid I hated onions and scallions, they tasted like acid to me then. But one day, when I was working in northern Thailand, I had some incredible shrimp fried rice, served in banana leaves, and it included a generous portion of scallions. It tasted so good, I remember how great it tasted to this day and from then on, always got the fried rice. I wish I could find the real deal here in Allentown, Pa.
