We are playing the minnows of Liechtenstein, who concede goals for fun. They lost 5-0 to Turkey, who in my opinion are not a better attacking side than England, even though they are technically better. But still, England are miles better technically than Liechtenstein, they have a very attacking midfield to maintain huge amounts of possession, and Owen a ...[text shortened]... alia because it was a friendly (i.e. the result did not matter) and Sven used it to experiment.
Obviously you haven't seen james- granted his defence is the worst in the league, but he makes mistakes that even under tens don't make!

As for heskey- don't make me laugh! what a joke! Owen has been off form and heskey is not the partner he needs.

How about shearer as a set piece taker? cannon ball shot- keeps it down and most crucially on target

I agree, Shearer is a great free-kick taker, but Robert and Solano are also world-class. Watching Robert line up a shot from 40 yards adds a lot more excitement to a situation which would otherwise see a two yard pass occur.

As for David James, he is a quality keeper - he has made mistakes, but I am not too sure about your accompanying comment about under tens, as I do not have any interest in watching under tens play. What you do in your own time is your business, and keep it your business.

Owen and Heskey work well together. You obviously don't watch Liverpool regularly, because in the last match (against Leeds) they ripped the defence to shreads.

David James has made more saves than any other goal keeper in the league. All goal keepers make bad mistakes, you are less likely to make one if you have a solid defense in front of you rather than the likes of the current west ham defense, they would make any keeper look bad. If West Ham stay up this season it will be because of David James.

They couldn't even make it into the WC.

You couldn't even beat the Czech Republic, who also didn't make the WC

and defoe and cole..........

2-1 Scotland; England will narrowly win 2-0 with Wales thumping the Azerbajanis 4-0. I reckon Northern Ireland will lose by the odd goal to Armenia. The Republic are not British so I don't care but will win 2-1 in Georgia.

Calling everyone out there who takes pride in our national team!

What do people think about the calling up of Heskey, Jeffers, Vassell and rooney? What planet is Eriksson on? Defoe and cole have been excellent for West Ham. Both defoe and cole are regularly in the first 11 yet rooney and jeffers, who rarely get either a first team place or a goal for that matter were called up.

And what do people think about the choice of our no.1 keeper? Robinson is clearly better than james. Need i point out that he was dropped from liverpool?

I personally think he should have played Terry rather than Southgate, but it is just opinion when it comes down to it. On Current form he should be playing Beattie and Owen up front, and Le Saux on the left of midfield rather than Bridge. I think Defoe has done far much than Vasell this season.

to be fair southgate played alright despite his age. Woodgate would have been a better replacement for campbell

Woodgate would be a good option too, though I am not sure how match fit he is. If we are going to play 17 year old Rooney for experience why not play one of a younger defenders as well - it was not as if we were playing a top 20 team on the weekend.
