Do you know any programs in linux that are good for plotting data?
The one I currently use is labplot, but I don't really like some of its features. And if you're going to say gnuplot can you please direct me to some good tutorials on it.

And do you know any c compiler that is good and free for windows too?

Thanks.

Serious side here adam. My wife works for Big Blue and she says none of them utilize linux for plottting data much for the same reasons you are encountering and she says gnu is the best option, but it is complicated. She said most of them use a box conversion of Lotus and/or excel to do most of their stuff. Don't know if that helps, but it is the best I could do because I don't know squat about that stuff.

Thanks a lot.

Gnu is a bummer cause we have to do it in the shell. But I will have to learn it eventually so I might as well do it now. For windows what I use is labplot and that one is very good. And by the way: what is lotux?

adam, my wife says she is not familiar with lotux but she suggessted to go to the Linux Users Group and ask the questions. She said you can google it and find it. She sais there are many people there who are far more advanced than she is and may be able to help you out. good luck!

Depending on whether you prefer fullness of features or simplicity of use, try http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp.html and http://www.codeblocks.org/ . Both have C++ features, but both can handle the real men's language as well.

adam,
i'm not familiar with any 'good' plotting tools for linux, not my line of business. but on the compiler side i can recommend you have a look at MinGW @ http://www.mingw.org ... very reasonable compiler with a decent ide to it as well. it runs through cygwin on windows (http://www.cygwin.com) and fairly easy to setup.
alternatively have a look here for a list of c\c++ compilers, may be you'll find something that you like -> http://www.thefreecountry.com/compilers/cpp.shtml
