@mchill saidsame here in the uk I paid £300 for a pair of variofocals.
I recently purchased a pair of reader glasses from a grocery store for $12.00. Glasses from an optical shop cost upwards of $300.00 just for the frames. Why? What makes optical shop frames 10-15 times more expensive than what I'm using now?

Reading lenses are simple and cheap to produce using a basic CR39 type plastic. Varifocal lenses have complex optics and are usually made of a high index polycarbonate.
I paid £2.50 for my readers from Home Bargains in the UK, I have about 10 pairs of them. I’ve also paid over £700 for Mykita varifocals.
