Because you say you are going to file a complaint, doesn't mean you always carry it out. Like you might say I would love to kill that guy in anger, but it doesn't mean you are actually going to do it.

Civil suits aren't always easy to win either, and you can wind up coming out of something like that, with pie all over your face.

To be honest, I think if arrakis was still around, more people would've been here by now, and yes not to lie he did pay subscriptions to people and i was one of them back then. It is very sad he isn't thinking of even returning. I did learn a lot from him here, and still learning as Im always been in contact with him. Very nice person and very knowledgeable.

But I understand how he felt, about how the people here attack him and just rudely attack. I play on different chess sites, and i post in forums occasionally except in here. Very huge difference in responses here and on other sites. This is the only downside here for me, and this is why i keep away.

To be fair, Don was perfectly willing to attack others and did it many times on the forums. He seemed to have a severe case of "Dishing it out but not being able to take it"-itis.

Chess-wise him not being here is a loss.

All I ever saw him do is defend himself, and he could be very, very good at defending himself. I think that is really the part you didn't like.

He helped people with Chess, he helped pay peoples subscriptions who couldn't afford them. In my books that makes him an exceptionally good person.

Don, unfortunately, came across as a nutjob in the forums. He had, in common with yourself and some others on this forum, a persecution complex but he was treated no differently than anybody else.

His "note" to Russ and the message Ice posted speak for themselves; he is emotionally unstable.

When is the last time you paid someones subscription? You don't even pay for one yourself? When is the last time you helped someone with their chess game?

I think we both can learn things from Arrakis. The trouble is I think you are too self centered to do that. My opinion only of course, I don't know that for a fact, just from what you have shown me in these forums.

I've paid more money into this site than you have including paying for other people's subscriptions. I've also been a lot more active in the Chess Forum than you have. I said earlier in this thread that Arrakis helped me with my game.

I asked you the questions if you had paid anyones subscriptions, or helped people with their chess game...These were questions, not statements, do you understand the difference between the two? I am sure you do, your just being silly now.

So, Arrakis helps you with your game, and to repay him, you think it is important to say as many unkind things as you can about him in the public forums. It is nice to see how much you appreciated the kindness that he has shown you.

I can agree with that. He was by no means perfect. And he did have some problems but all in all, he wasn't all that bad. He did make a stupid mistake, but he didn't go through with it. And I doubt he would have. He was just angry. We see you get that way all the time. If something ever happened to you. Don't be surprised if I didn't say a word or two in your defense. Even though you make it hard.

He was just hoping stupidly that he could put some pressure on Russ and Russ would fold. Russ correctly called his bluff. End of story. I don't really think Arrakis wants to come back and I doubt Russ would allow it but let's call it what it really was. It was a bad bluff.

Your perception is quite strange. My first comment about Arrakis in this thread was quite positive. But then a few posters have decided to try to tell a story about him that is untrue i.e. that he was unfairly persecuted. Pointing out that that story is a fabrication is not saying anything unfairly negative about Don. He was a bit of a hysterical flake as his note to Russ shows. He was also a good player and generous with chess advice. I do appreciate his assistance as I said originally, but I won't ignore the negative aspects of his RHP persona.

I agree with your analysis. But he still THREATENED a lawsuit as Darvlay said.

You seem to have a different take on this. While I still think you're wrong, it's too harsh to call you a liar regarding the matter now that you've explained your position. Therefore, I withdraw those statements.
