I think the Game Mod. team is doing a great job -
Banning the likes of IronMan, Fckallie and Trackhead has made RHP a better place (in terms of actual chess) ...
However, I think it is beyond doubt that there are many more engine users amongst the rating tables, far too many if you ask me.
Now since the Game moderation team is volunteer job, I wouldn't ask more of them, since they are def. heading in the right direction.
But why not have more people joining this team to clean RHP faster from those engine users?
Any thoughts, any good players that might want to volunteer ??
Regards
Boris

It would just be nice to have more people fighting those useless engine user's in my humble opinion...

Once, yes once in my life I agree with him and suddenly I'm a creep ???
oh well, never mind ... I thought the idea was good ...
It is a good idea though. I'm sure the current Mods would welcome a few of the more established and trustworth RHP'ers onto their team to help fight the rising hordes of Engine users.

Just because I have my opinion about marauder doesn't mean he wouldn't be perfectly capable of being a welcome addition to the moderation team ...

What is required are people who have the immense patience to work through games repeatedly using different engines, and try to understand whether the plans - or opportunistic tactics - are from a human or a machine, and to give a sufficient level of benefit of doubt when engine lines are followed. This really isn't a trivial task at all. Sadly I really don't have the time, but it would be a deeply fascinating, if somewhat depressing, endeavour to be involved in.
I don't know if there are that many players using engines. An engine user's engine use will have a tendancy of running away with them so that even if they only start off with "checking it's not a blunder" they'll end up letting it run the entire game for them. As things stand they cannot admit to using one, and cannot stop. At a psychological level they'll end up revealing themselves - remember how tommybear admitted that he was cheating by starting his own thread...
My only criticism of the site on this matter is that Russ et al. didn't take a hard line on this from the start. The danger is that people started using engines because "everyone else was..." - dominic 0987 probably came into this category. I think there should have been some kind of amnesty when this was first discussed, but now it's too late, it would be unfair to those already banned and generally give out mixed signals.

As far as i'm concerned, there are certain open and shut cases that are taking too long to determin. Some players charts are enough to ban them. If a player is losing to 1000 rated players when they first join, while using patzer moves like Fools mate, then suddenly display Grandmaster understanding of the the Kings gambit 3 weeks later and then rise to 2000 in rating in under 3 months (naming no names of course...) then i feel the method to ban them is simple. Analyse their original games, see how much they match up, then analyse their current games. If their match up rate increases from 20% to 60% in three weeks, they are using an engine! I don't care how rusty someone might get after a 20 year lay off, no 2000 rated player will EVER lose consistently to 1200 players (maybe one game, but certainly not 10 or 20 games). Cheaters are left to reap havoc for far too long around here when it is OBVIOUS they are cheating. I'm not knocking the mod team here, they have my full support, but players are investigated for months when this method would reduce their thinking time significantly....
