The game mods are still looking for volunteers to join their team. Anyone who is interested should put forward their names in private by PM to either myself or Phlabibit or send 'feedback' to the site admin (Russ and Chrismo).
The kind of people we need are:-
1) Strong players - preferably rated over 2000, but 1700 would be an acceptable minimum.
2) You must own at least one major engine, eg. recent versions of Fritz, Hiarcs, Shredder, Junior (or any of the other top Chessbase engines). Unfortunately Chess Master isn't strong enough or useful for analysis.
3) You must be a subscriber.
4) You must be long-standing member of the site - ie. you joined at least 6 months ago.
5) You must be a sensible, level-headed and trustworthy person. commited to the best interests of the site.
6) You must be prepared to put in the necessary time and effort.
Ok, I know that's a lot of conditions. But it's absolutely essential that we find the right people.
Thanks,
Dave

Originally posted by abejnoodbecause the different ways computers and humans play can sometimes be spotted by a high rated players, without the initial assistance of a computer.
What difference does your rating make if you're asking us to use computers?
e.g. i once suspected blobby of using an engine in a game and he later admitted it....i never ran it through an engine, i just noticed by way his moves varied from those he used to play when his "dad" wasn't helping him.
but that by no means makes me anything like what they need to be a game mod.
also mods need to be able to judge wether the player made a move with the assistance of a computer or not. e.g. a high rated player without an engine may make many of the same moves that an engine would make because they are the best move. the mods have to decide wether a player used a computer or not, which can more often than not need extensive knowledge of the game. mods also need to also be able to successfully analyze the analysis of an engine to determine if the player in question has used an engine.
NO1MARAUDER....this is what you have been waiting for...get your a$$ in here and offer your support.

Originally posted by abejnoodHaving a high rating is very important, because it indicates the person has a sufficient level of chess understanding and experience to be able to make the difficult decisons that the games mods have to deal with. For instance we have to judge whether a move played in a game was more likely to have been produced by a computer or a strong human player.

i think no1 has shown considerable dedication to the site. he may not be completly level headed in public but he seems a decent enough chap.
No1 is too aggressive for this role. and if we absolutely MUST have game mods, we need people there who will argue devil's advocate for the accused.
