Yes, it is quite expensive...but compare it to other hobbies:
- Collecting
- Painting
- Playing (very strategic game).
- Modelling
It costs roughly 300 euros (or dollars) to build a 2000 point army (average size). It will cost you a further 30 for paints, brushes, etc.
But...then you can play as much as you want with them!
Say you're into photography (which I am, sort of)...a digital camera with a reasonable lense is going to set you back at least 500 euros.
Lots of other collecting hobbies are at least as expensive, but you can't play with them (and still act like you're a grown-up anyways).
Look at sports! That's pretty expensive as well. Here in Holland 6 months of fitness will set you back as much as a full warhammer army.
So, yes, it is expensive, but not in comparison to a lot of other hobbies out there!
