Gas prices have went up alot in the past few days around here and I have heard that there is no sign of them coming down any time soon but that they will go back up. I just wanted to hear what other people thought about this.

I dont understand why we just dont use our own oil instead of using other countrys oil and not depend on other countrys, gas prices could be alot cheaper if we would just use our own oil. I know that some gas companys in the united states dont use and imported oil at all and I always try to go there. Citco is a prime example of that, or Hess and there are several others that dont import oil. I just know that with gas prices reaching 2.60 a gallon around here is pretty high.

Oil's going to run out in about 50 years or so, probably even less than that. So, when that time comes, we won't have to worry about it.

The Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince 'something or other'(please understand I say that with the highest respect) said it best. "I could send you(U.S.A) 1 million more barrells a day and you still couldnt refine it fast enough". And... he's right. An oil refinery hasn't been built in the U.S.A. in over 20yrs. Noone wants an oil refinery in their back yard because they dont want to see it, smell it, hear it, and they cant even consider selling, because they wont get squat with that on the skyline. which is all very understandable. But in the long run, they lose money paying these high prices. So, quit complaining America. I don't like the prices any better. They're $2.60 for 87 octane in the capitol district of NY, USA. But if people don't want another refinery or two, they all should just shut up, because they're only hurting themselves.

2.60??? Really where?? Beats 2.90! If all in America just one day, not pull into a gas station, you'll see them arabs panic and come down with their price to 2 bucks.

Theere are 3.785 litres to the US gallon. Some pumps in the UK charge £1 per litre of petrol. US$1.80 = £1.

The US pays $2.60 per gallon.

The UK pays $1.80 per litre, or $6.81 per gallon.

Please do stop whining about the price of petrol.

I hope everyone there rides motorcycles or even just bicycles, at that price.

I almost started a thread a week or so ago to inquire what people around the world pay for gas...

It's amazing the price disparity between countries or even areas within a country. I knew we were lucky here in the states to pay what we were paying.

I remember an instructor I had 30 years ago telling us that the worlds oil supply would run out in 25 years... while obviously that didn’t happen, it has to eventually, and sooner rather than later as consumption increases around the world. I remember when gasoline was less than 50 cents a gallon… a five fold increase in 40 years… where will it be in another 30 years I wonder?

High oil prices can only be good. Get off your fat arses and bike/bus/walk/run.

It's not a persons fitness you should be worried about but how a government / populace will react to swiftly escalating prices. It could get uglier than their bellies!

What do you expect when the president of the United States is an oil man? 😠

I'm not worried about anyones fitness - use of oil is, in many cases, unnecessary. It also kills the environment. High prices may be be the only thing that stops people abusing oil powered machines, because god knows they won't stop of their own accord.

Is the USA alone in having a rule where the president can only serve two terms? Sure it leaves the way open for rampant corruption and costs the Nation a packet in looking after the ex pres brigade.

You are right JW can do what he likes with oil prices to line his own pockets.

The only watchdog would be if his party wants to be reelected...would the voters who have paid high petrol prices vote for them?
