When I get to feeling blue, I get out into a different town or a different place and watch people for a week or two. I just did that. Flying over many millions of people. Thinking of what each of their lives entail. Watching crowds of thousands. Driving among millions. No way of knowing. The dynamics of a thousand are unknowable. Then a million, which is a total mystery. Then a billion...

How little each of us are to the whole. But...

Recognizing how much we are all tied together is important. In scale and scope. We all have the same basic wants and desires. Yet we all have very different ways of getting to those goals. This is what make us human.

very true. It is only when you fly above a city before you realise how many people live there and how interconnected everything is.

I'm supprised that makes you feel better. Whenever I pause to absorb the enormity of it all I end up feeling small & insignificant too, but as I watch people scrabbling around getting nowhere it makes me rather depressed. I guess the perspective tells something about the person.
