During qualification for the regional 660cc GP at Donington, she slipped the clutch on a tight hairpin. The resulting jolt loosened the chin strap on her SS helmet and let her rather impressive beard free to flap in the wind. As she accelerated into apex, the beard got caught on the rear right tyre and she was dragged off the trike and crushed by the rest of the pack trying to lap her.
They renamed the corner in her honour.
