I once had about 150 games going, and it was horrible. I'd log on and see 100 games waiting. My comfort zone is 50 or less I'd say.

Not really. I will soon though.

Note: Probably half of my games have a timeout of 14 or higher, which makes a bigger came load easier to carry.

I'm sitting on 127. Had it up to 197 once. 127 is too many. Someday I'll have it under 100...first I have to enter a couple of more tournaments though.

Too many games obviously effects your game. It all depends on what you want out of the site.
