I know Stees is a keen golfer; any others in this forum?
I have a rather good golf course opposite to where I live and they charge approximately £750 ($995) year for membership.
I’m thinking of having a go at golf as I’m taking a work break for the rest of the summer (such as it is here in the UK!)
Is this a keen price?
What do you pay?
This feels like the suzi motorcycle post all over again but the opposite.
Have you ever played golf? 😂 Maybe start with a few lessons and a couple of rounds on a smaller par 3 course.
I haven't played in a few years due to injuries etc but it's not something you can just turn up and play without the risk of either ruining the course or worse, hitting someone/something with the ball.
@A-Unique-Nickname saidI have played before yes.

@divegeester saidThat seems a decent price. Does it allow you to play anytime? Some courses have restrictions and that is factored in in the price you pay. What does just one round cost? You may want to do a bit of math and figure out if you’re better off paying for each round. As much as I couldn’t imagine someone not enjoying golf, there are some who don’t.😲😉

@divegeester
from the mid 80's to Y2K i played as much golf as i could
factor in a job with heavy overtime requirements, two young children that i had no idea of how to teach, an impatient alcohol addiction, and the number of rounds played is prolly not abnormal for a regular guy
in northern illinois, chicago large, those folks know how to grow grass just right
i had my pick of pitch and putts, lil par 3 courses, 9 hole municipals, and a slew of courses that were so fine i could not afford the greens fees
i never once was tempted with membership dues
too many public courses
pay the greens fee and wait for yer tee time
i'm curious
what perks are there to paying a grand up front to play?
bunkers that look like beaches?
greens like parking lots?
no cussing on the links?
gonna sell my clubs, it's been 10 years
