'Punk which you hear played today on the radio is dire... GC and SP are awful! Add another one: Blink 182, they seem to have wanted to mature, which in my view was a mistake. They should have stuck to keeping pop-punk 15 year-olds happy with shout along songs. Now they are trying to sing 'proper' songs, and the vocals are not strong enough. Just listen to 'I miss you', the vocals are terrible.
I would not classify the latest Green Day album as punk, but they certainly started off as a punk band in my opinion.
