It's a football thang.
I do appreciate the way the other 'home nations' would rather no home nation team made it to the world cup than be represented by England.
Flip it, if Scotland had a hope in Hull of qualifying and England were 5 points out of it, then I'd be backing them all the way against Norway this week.
Club then Country then Kingdom is how it should be.

scotland do indeed have a good chance of qualifying, as we showed with an incredible performance against the italians. if we beat norway we are right back in the chase, even though norways last minute win against slovenia didnt help.
as for the rest of your nonsense, why should i supporting england? i dont believe in the ununited kingdom.
oh and for the first time ever i support the police force of northern ireland to keep the hooligans in order 😛
come on the northern irish! get intae them:😀

I can't support Scotland though due to attitudes like yours. I support England first, then the home nations equally. I'd love it if all could qualify but it is patently obvious that the quality is lacking in the smaller FA's, for whatever reason (I think much of it is down to a lack of youth development - especially in the Old Firm in Scotland).
It was a batlling performance against the Italians, but to be fair they didn't turn up, and still had chances to win it. Walter Smith might bring better performances in these qualifiers but it will not be enough to get you through (2nd instead of Norway would mean a playoff match if I am correct? It is a moot point though as 2nd will be Norway).
I'd appreciate your support of NI in this game if there was still a chance they could qualify for the world cup, however to simply support them to hamper England is wrong.
Anyway surely you'd much rather England reaches Germany 2006 only to lose on Penalties in the semi's... 😉

to the west of ingerlund 😛
wales put up a brave fight, a deflection and your guys think they are world beaters again.
Poland will win the group.
question: who was the last "home" country to win at wembley?
Maybe they will - time will tell.
Answer - Scotland? The gentle scots fans famously took the goalposts home with them if my memory serves me correct.

If it were now there'd only be Giggs in with a chance of replacing any of the England first XI.

your fellow countyfolk on the telly ram it down our throats how excellent you are at all sports, hence that just one of reasons (and of course 300 years, or in in irelands case 700 years of direct rule) we hope you get gubbed. classic example the france-england game in EURO 2004, commentator "we'll just have to beat them in the final". (btw if carlsberg did injury time, it would be the greatest injury time in the world!)
you are of course correct to suggest that we love watching england at penalties....if only all yer fitba games were settled this way!
the problem with scottish fitba is that there was a teachers industrial dispute throughout the late eighties. i went to secondary school and there was not one fitba team in the five years i went there. we are just catching up now.
i think norway are takeable, but we shall see. and for the record, ive said it many times, theres only one team in glasgow and thats the THISTLE!

You make very generalised statements. Of course when England manage to qualify for the World cup finals, there is a lot of hype surrounding it. It's only natural. All it is, is a healthy 'belief' that we can manage to win. Look at he last three teams to put us out of it. Brazil, Argentina and Germany (when they used to be good). SO it is only natural for us to believe that we can go that little bit extra, or maybe just get a fluke deflection that will bring us glory. 😉

the correct answer is indeed scotland in 1999.
