Eleven days so far and only 3 cigs, when before I used to smoke
1 pack a day. Should I be ashamed of those 3?

What can I do to stop my trembling hands and my desire to kill
everybody around me? Should I start drinking heavily?

Smoking is hell. Not smoking is hell too.

Smoking less isn't quitting because it becomes so easy to relapse into smoking a lot.

You have to bite the bullet and just kick it now while you have the momentum in the right direction.

Get used to the shaking hands! 😞

After stopping with smoking, I got shaking hands.
I started drinking.
Now I'm stopping with drinking, and again I get shaking hands.
Should I start eating more now?
😛

Stopping is a mather of mind over body in my opinion.
And every cig you take is a step back to starting with smoking again. :'(

And don't drink for a while. Thats the easiest way to start up again.

Also, excercise and eating are good ways to stop yourself from smoking.

Damn it. I knew it but wanted to hear some sympathetic words.

You're right.

😞

But it's so damn difficult, damn it, damn it.

The 1st one after quitting was 6 days after... and it felt sooooooooo
good, like a drug invading all my body, making me deliciously dizzy,
soothing me, and... and... damn, I need one right now.

Yeah, I know all about that. But you aren't even to the hard part, at least for me. I can go weeks or months without smoking if I put my mind to it, but its when you think you have it licked and then smoke a cigarette (because you can have one without getting hooked again, or so you think) and then fall right back into it like an old lover.

If you really are set on quitting, its possible. Excercise really really helps. Especially running. You don't even want to smoke for hours and hours after jogging.

Apart from being a total and utter bane toward humanity, smoking is probably my only real vice in this life, and I have no intention of quitting. They'll have to pry my lighter out my cold dead hand one day. Bastards.

Stop completely... then...
Drink extra water. (Especially for first four days)
Take a multi vit. (It's the B complex you actually need, but multi vit fine)
Reduce caffeine intake for a while. (Caffeine increases desire for nicotene).
After 4 days... nicotene gone from system
After 10 days.... blood fully oxygenated again.
Good luck... I'm sure you'll succeed.

Thanks, I treasure the support 🙂

I hope my weakness for worldly pleasures is defeated by my will to
have a fulfilling life free of that delicious nicotine.

Exercise: Check.
Water: Check.
Focus: Check.

This morning woke up at 7.00 am and went to swim 2 kilometers
and then a 20 minute sauna session at 85 C. I felt like a champ,
but when I was out in the street the desire to smoke was too strong
to believe it.

I chewed 3 nicorettes in a row.

you can also try the special nicotine patches. They bring some nicotine in your bloos so your desire for a cig will disappear.

It takes an attitude adjustment. I quit cold turkey after 30 years and never looked back. Instead of reminiscing over what you gave up, focus on your new freedom.. no longer being a slave to nicotine. You are not merely giving something up.. you are adding new habits: holding your head up, breathing deeply, tasting food for the first time, feeling positive about the world around you. Don't just quit smoking.. add independence to your daily agenda. If you really want to escape from cigarettes, the cell door is open!

Which brings me to the question for everybody.

WHat's the difference between chewing gum and patches?

Hang tough! It's a lifelong battle for many folks. I've quit 3 times myself.😞

Exercise has helped the most each time. Doesn't have to be overly strenuous, just consistent. Removing yourself from the situations where you used to always smoke can help also.

Good luck, don't get down on yourself for any momentary relapses, you are moving in the right direction.
